We 'bout to kick it liveWith Slick Rick the ruler (one two, one two)Uncle Ricky, could you read us a bedtime story?Please, huh, please?Alright, you kids get to bed, I'll get the storybookY'all tucked in?Here we goOnce upon a time, not long agoWhen people wore pajamas and lived life slowWhen laws were stern and justice stoodAnd people were behavin' like they ought ta goodThere lived a lil' boy who was misledBy another lil' boy and this is what he said:"Me and you, Ty, we gonna make some cashRobbin' old folks and makin' tha dash"They did the job, money came with easeBut one couldn't stop, it's like he had a diseaseHe robbed another and another and a sista and her brothaTried to rob a man who was a D.T. undercoverThe cop grabbed his arm, he started acting erraticHe said, "Keep still, boy, no need for static"Punched him in his belly and he gave him a slapBut little did he know the lil' boy was strappedThe kid pulled out a gun, he said "Why did ya hit me?"The barrel was set straight for the cop's kidneyThe cop got scared, the kid, he starts to figure"I'll do years if I pull this trigga"So he cold dashed and ran around the blockCop radio's it to another lady copHe ran by a tree, there he saw this sistaA shot for the head, he shot back but he missed herLooked around good and from expectationsSo he decided he'd head for the subway stationsBut she was coming and he made a leftHe was runnin' top speed till he was outta breathKnocked an old man down and swore he killed himThen he made his move to an abandoned buildingRan up the stairs up to the top floorOpened up the door there, guess who he saw?Dave the dope fiend shootin' dopeWho don't know the meaning of water nor soapHe said "I need bullets, hurry up, run!"The dope fiend brought back a spanking shotgunHe went outside but there was cops all overThen he dipped into a car, a stolen NovaRaced up the block doing 83Crashed into a tree near universityEscaped alive though the car was batteredRat-a-tat-tatted and all the cops scatteredRan out of bullets and still had staticGrabbed a pregnant lady and pulled out the automaticPointed at her head and he said the gun was full o' leadHe told the cops "Back off or honey here's dead"Deep in his heart he knew he was wrongSo he let the lady go and he starts to run onSirens sounded, he seemed astoundedBefore long the lil' boy got surroundedHe dropped the gun, so went the gloryAnd this is the way I have to end this storyHe was only seventeen, in a madman's dreamThe cops shot the kid, I still hear him screamThis ain't funny so don't ya dare laughJust another case about the wrong pathStraight 'n narrow or yo' soul gets castGoodnight
